I am also in the camp of entering lat/long would be handy. if someone has found a good camping spot, point of inteste or such and can give the coordinates, I could then enter it direct. I can also tell others coordinates from using the save currect location feature.
I have been wanting this feature for a long time (See eg. my posts of 15 & 21 June 2009). It would be useful to be able to toggle between the present snap-to-road mode and a new off-road mode. This way off-road positions could be saved or entered manually and navigated to; eg in a large car park.
