we've very close. What we can say is that there are two version operating systems, which are not sequentially ordered (ie: Version A OS is not older than version E OS). For those users on version D OS we will be posting an update to rebuild with version B OS in order to maximise the software changes(faster acquire times, auto off feature, fewer buds in whole map updates). For B version users, no OS update is required. A new map version for G series devices will be compiled with a refreshed speed alert trial (those who purchsed can use their original purchase code) and the latest 2010 build data (incl. Bunbury Hwy (Perth); Citylink onramps in Sth Melbourne and the new Brisbane airport road restructure. As the complete update is quite large we will be offering 2 methods of delivery; 1) download the full OS and map rebuild. 460MB, whcih requires a fresh 1GB SD card (note - NOT SDHC) 2) for a nominal fee (TBA), we can send you a 1GB SD card with the firmware / map updates.
we're hoping for release and full instructions by 13th of Feb. Apologies again for the delays. |

Just curious about the 1Gb card requirement ... Is this to just implement the upgrade or will the 1Gb card be required for the GPS to operate after the upgrade ?
Regards. Steve.

| The G35 is first, as the G43 OS is quite stable. The same map version is offered on both G35 and G43 (albeit a larger viewing area on G43) |

| I certainly wouldn't do anything yet. the speil says quite clearly it is for the G35. No mention of the 43. Undoubtedly updates will be available for your model in due time. Admin says its OS is stable so it will probably be map updates etc. |

There is (now) a G43 Software & Map update from 22 Jan 2010 avail. here http://www.metroview.com.au/updates/updates.htm# which seems to contain the Map updates (& some of the new features) being promoted now for the G35.
Refer to my posts (+ reply from crowy) here: http://www.navig8r.com.au/m35/navig8r_club/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1026&whichpage=3
Hope that helps. |

OK, so my G35 had started freezing at odd times, so after two attempts I managed to download the OS and map update and install it.
All is well, even have the new compass display working.
But.... Whenever I try to enter an address using either the wizard or the quickstep it just shows a black area of screen where it used to show a list of addresses to select from.

Are you talking about the new firmware in the link below.

If so and you still have the card, Put the card back in the computer and run scan disk to see if it shows any corrupt files.

Thanks Grumpy, The card checks out with no errors.
I've reinstalled it three times, each time with the same result. Everything works except the address list.

| I take it you get the list for towns/suburbs?? I don't know which file holds the street names and at the moment don't have time to chase it down. I am sure admin on Monday will be able to tell you which file the street names are held in. If you have an earlier version backed up you could go through the filed in "data" and see if one is missing.... |

| Problem solved. I downloaded a new copy of the update, and used a fresh SD card and all is well. |
