I've removed the recovery method from here as a lot of the steps I posted are now unnecessary as the current firmware/software update makes them obsolete.I've left the link here though for the Memory card format/Memory card integrity software for those who want it. http://www.navig8r.com.au/m35/navig8r_club/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1121

Hello Crowy
My g35 lost its program, When I press the navigation icon nothing happens. The GPS Reciever adn Travel Kit icons work so I assume that I have lost the program. When I hooked it up by usb the f: drive was empty.
I followed your procedure but when I got to formatting the g35 it would not complete it and now I cant access the G35 as a drive.
Any ideas?
The G35 is only a couple of months old and has hardly been used!!!

Hi Ken. First download this file: http://www.metroview.com.au/updates/G35_OSRebuild.zip
When the download is complete, unzip ALL the files and folder onto a clean 1GB or 2GB SD card. Connect G35 to AC adaptor and slide the power switch on the rear of the GPS to the OFF position. Insert the SD card into the slot on the side of the GPS. Press and hold the power button on the top of the GPS. With the Power button still held, slide the power switch on the back of the device to the On position. Continue holding the Power button down for approx 10 seconds or until the display lights and you see an updating image dialogue box appear on the screen and the red power light goes out. After about 23 minutes you will here a ringing sound and then a high/low sound. The power light will turn red and the dialogue box will say processing file 1 of 638.Wait another 10 minutes or so and you will see the Navigation / GPS Receiver / Travel Kit screen.
Disconnect the usb charge cable from your gps and switch off the charger.Remove the SD card.Tap on Navigation. You should be greeted by the familiar navig8r screen followed by Karen's "welcome to navigator" dialogue. That's it. Cheers, crowy

We purchased the Navig8r GPS-G35 on 18th July, 2010 and received it on Friday 23rd July 2010. We used it for the next three weeks in the Northern Territory and it worked great. On returning back to Melbourne we found that the unit was acting erratically with some major streets not showing up on the screen map. We then decided to try the new upgrade available from your web site.
Our unit required the updates be downloaded and unzipped to an SD card. We followed the directions meticulously including checking the version number and plugging in the power. Unfortunately the screen showed that the update froze continually at 75% of the second screen into the update. We attempted to download and upload the program a total of 5 times using different makes of 2GB SD cards (not SDHC cards) however each time we had the same result.
Each time the update halted at the same spot and the screen displayed:
Update process . . . 0/4 Downloading Images . . . 75%
Our version number was: Laser.20090401.E (not .V2)
Now the unit will not turn on normally, so is unusable. It will still attempt to do the update process, if we hold the standby button down and switch the unit on.
Can you please advise how we can get a resolution to this matter?

I would first of all download the update again. while a PIB it certainly sounds like it was corrupted. Do not use a download accelerator. if possible use a different computer (friend, offspring?/) best of luck |

navigator,.
I think you need to do the firmware update.
Also one of the members might check your unit number for you.
